Today, I started radiation treatment, or TBI as the folks here call it. I forgot my acronym translator back on my starship, so bear with me. TBI stands for total body irradiation. Yep. Not one body part, toe nail, or hair folllicle are missed under the spectrum. And...wait for it...I have pictures!
This is a shot of the actual table they lay me on for the procedure. They have to make custom size enclosures for my head and feet. And oddly enough, they use rice bags to take up the space in between.
This is a shot of me actually in position and ready to take on the radiation.
One of the nurses took this from above me. My face looks strangely creepy. The whole building boxes and rice bags to me seemed very Michigan backyard to me. I was waiting for someone to start arguing about Nascar and beer.
More later...
Nascar and Beer? YEAH!!! Now we're talkin!
ReplyDeleteHey, where's my call back bro??? I feel neglected :)
ReplyDeleteI'll call you at work tomorrow. :)
ReplyDeleteVery high tech! Remember, you are in one of the best institutions in the country. Makes ya kind of wonder what degree you need to have to figure out rice bags! Question....once the rice bags go through with you, are they cooked like you? Rice for everyone in the ward!! Seriously, you look like you are ready to go into battle, which is just what you are doing. When all of this makes you sick, just think how great you are going to feel when it is over!!
ReplyDeleteSo does this explain the rice shortage?
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work and make sure no one is in your way when you need to....... :-)
The radiation machine looks so high tech and then you look at the boxes and the bags of rice .... I guess the economy has hit all of us. Thank you for the pictures. It makes it easier for us to be with you mentally.
ReplyDeleteI think FunFX has a nurse outfit for Katie.
