The Stairs That Saved My Life
It was a cold December afternoon in 2008, when I headed out for a smoke behind our building at work. I slipped on the icey first step down and came crashing down on my left side, breaking one of my ribs. This incident, though it seemed trivial at the time, led to the ultimate discovery of my Leukemia. Had I not fallen, I don't know how long it would've taken for me to realize something was wrong inside my body. I've always been a bit clumsy. Most of the time, that fact has resulted in things getting broken, shattered or destroyed. But in this case, my clumsiness saved my life.

I was also diagnosed with ALL about a month ago. Now I'm in my second day of the first chemotherapy cycle (after pre-induction phase).

I wanted to contratulate you for having the courage and ambition to keep a detailed log about your treatment period. It's very inspiring for a person in the same situation to see an example of a man who is almost cured and back to its normal life.

Thank God for clumsyness and frozen metal stairs! Of course it could also be argued that smoking saved your life, but we won't go there!! I love you and am as happy as can be that you broke your rib!
ReplyDeleteAmen!
